The Ordinary Review (Part I – Introduction & compiled guide categorised by skincare concerns)

The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc, The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion

I have gotten many requests to share a review on The Ordinary through DMs on Instagram. There are many questions surrounding this line as it has names probably only a chemist could understand and the lack of description as to what a product does exactly. I could understand why a common shopper would be hesistant to make a purchase because it takes a little bit too much effort to understand what a product does and the line has more than 40 different products.

In this post, I would like to share with you my journey with The Ordinary. You can expect a summarized explanation of each product and my thoughts about it. This will be a multiple parts series as it has too many products in the line! I actually got my first order 5 months ago, I feel like I needed a good time period before I could give a fair review. The Ordinary is a line from the parent company Deciem, all the products in this line are about proven self-communicating ingredients. For many of these ingredients, it requires about 12 weeks of use before a visible difference.

The Ordinary products are free of:

  • Sulfates
  • Parabens
  • Mineral Oils
  • Animal Oils
  • Animal Testing

I love the products from this line because it is catered for people who are serious about skincare/for people who are more conscious about what we are putting on our skin. These are like little lab vials that are identified by the key ingredient in the formula, there are no gimmicks and no frills. This line is indeed appropriately named, “The Ordinary”. These are simple formulas that are highly concentrated and very focused and they are very reasonably priced. I think what most skincare junkies do with this line is that we start throwing things into our cart.
